March 2, 2009

Woah, I don't have lots of time, but I got a funny story for you. Kimberly asked me for a psycho companion story, but in all honesty I don't have one of those. I've been pretty blessed in that way, I guess.
Early last week we went to visit a less active lady in our ward. She is the NICEST lady you'll ever meet, and has a lot on her plate right now. But I think she must be just a little crazy, which is only right. A lot of people are. We finally found her house in the dark, and knocked on the door. There was a picture of a miniature yorkie dog on the door, and we heard a few dogs barking inside. That's pretty typical for Western New York, so Sister Lee and I just smiled at each other and shrugged our shoulders. Good...more dog hair on our coats. Good thing we have lint rollers in the car. We had not the least idea. We walked in and immediately there were 6 or 7 little dogs bouncing around at our feet. It was hard to count them because they were bouncing all over the place. I already thought that was too many dogs all in one place, but then I looked up. WHAT?! There were dogs ALL over the place. You know those portable folding baby cribs? She had two of those full of dogs, and there were cats on the couches, and more dogs playing on the floor. Ah! So we sat down, and Sister Lee couldn't resist asking, "Wow! So how many dogs do you have?" Don't worry...there are 16 dogs and 3 cats in that home. And these aren't just any dogs and cats. They have crazy eyes and nasty fur...good heavens. I'm pretty sure that's illegal. It's a good thing I'm not really an animal lover, or I probably would have been in an outrage. I still can't figure out how she remembers all of their names. Apparently they're just like having kids. I'll tell you what...not MY kids. So there you go. When I say that everyone here has at LEAST one animal, I'm not exaggerating in the least.
Good times. Things in the area area a little slow right now. There isn't a whole lot to report. We've found some new investigators, but no one is really progressing right now except for Melissa. She is still getting baptized in a few weeks, which is SO fantastic. She really has such incredible faith! We have another investigator named James. He is awesome! He is this HUGE black guy. I swear his arms are the size of my waist. He's had a rough past, but he's softened up a lot, and seems to really be latching onto the gospel. He is excited to come to church in a couple weeks. Rosalie is doing all right. Her boys have been sick for a while, and now her dad is sick in the hospital. It seems like one thing after another gets thrown at her. But she came to church yesterday, and her spirits were high. Hopefully we'll get her to the sites this week.
Well, that's kind of all I've got for now. We'll work harder this week so I have more people to tell you about next time. The Gospel is true! I know without any doubt in my mind. Every day I'm reminded of how much happiness the gospel brings to my life. The Plan of Salvation is perfect, we have a loving Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ is absolutely our Savior and Redeemer. I was able to bear my testimony in church yesterday, and it was great! My challenge to all of you for the week: read your Book of Mormon everyday! Even if all you can do is 10 minutes, it will be worth the time. I promise. Love you all!!
